I like Michael Jackson’s music fine, but being treated as this untouchable god of pop music a bit much. Sure his success was notably enormous (and it makes sense why he’s compared to taylor in that context) but in terms of quality his music isn’t some untouchable holy grail that an artist like Taylor Swift could never possibly attain. It’s all pop music brah. MJ does have the superior basslines however, that much can’t be disputed. A lack of bass is among my biggest criticisms of Swift’s career.

Swift has done her fair share of synth-pop, wouldn’t be surprised if she listed Pet Shop Boys among her influences.
