I’ve skimmed Go Ask Alice, it’s obviously not a real diary, and Beatrice Sparks was always supposed to have been the “discoverer” of it and her name was always attached to it. I get that she could have done that and still had someone else write it, but it doesn’t seem like much of a revelation that it turned out to be her.
I can’t think of another celebrity that I was independently aware of who lived longer than Beverly Cleary. I was actually reminded of her twice in the last couple of weeks. My sister mentioned her, and then I was watching Slings and Arrows and one season has Sarah Polley, the actress who played Ramona in the ’80s TV series, in it.
