I dunno, I got one as a Christmas present a few years ago. English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish – no surprise there for good old Virginia stock, but it also picked up Russian, Polish, and Jewish from my Eastern European paternal grandmother. A dash of Scandinavia with the Swedish ancestor I know I have, and some German. It lines up almost boringly with what I had assumed my whole life. Not exactly bullshit IMO.
The tendency for a conquering people is to be absorbed by the natives while the natives adopt the customs and language of the people they’re generically conquering. There are stories of modern country bloke Englishmen being discovered to be a direct descendant of a bog body or something. The Bulgarians were originally slant-eyed Central Asians. Look at them now.
