The Jam

The 2 you haven’t heard I’m assuming are:
This is the Modern World - 3 good songs, the rest is bland filler, it was such a rush job that Weller had to let Bruce Foxton write and sing a couple. Paul almost broke up the band because of the critical and public reaction. 2 stars.
The Gift - Ignore the 3 shoddy dance songs and you’ve got another Jam album in a similar, more poppy vein than the previous three. Underrated. B+

As for commercial success: biggest in the UK, selling 2,120,000 albums and…apparently none worth reporting anywhere else! https://bestsellingalbums.org/artist/13046

The Clash outsold the Jam worldwide with 4,250,000 US and 1,200,000 UK https://bestsellingalbums.org/artist/12943

The Stranglers had more top 40 hits (23) and sold 1,600,000 albums in the UK, making them second most popular in the UK but like the Jam never broke the US https://bestsellingalbums.org/artist/13228

The Sex Pistols are surprisingly #4 selling a million each in the US and UK
