oh yeah, admittedly i’m a generation removed from Zaireeka (i’m 26) but i liked the lips and it was really an intriguing concept for an album so i didn’t mind going out of my way to listen a few times in high school and college even though CDs were mostly already dead by that time
the death of physical media really does seem to have had a lot of negative ramifications for the music industry and experimentation. i think maybe the lips have done some similar stuff in recent years like but overall it feels like most of the interesting experimentation happens more on bandcamp these days rather than seeing any sort of wider release.
