Decemberists and OM are still active bands though. FF stopped making new music prior to streaming even being a thing, so no surprise they have so few listeners. But I could see them fitting into the modern art-pop music landscape better than they did in the 00s if they wanted to.
Eleanor Friedberger’s solo records dont scratch the same itch. And Matthew in spite of being the creative force behind all the FFs albums has seemingly completely given up putting out music in a conventional way. I think they did some live stuff recently, but it didnt seem to turn into anything more significant.
