had never been before, it was pretty fucking cool. kind of gave me whiplash going from dancing to cumbia-punk band Son Rompe Pera to sitting in a church listening to Trio Mediaeval perform works of Hildegard von Bingen.

other highlights: Laurie Anderson with Sexmob (playing most of the hits, also “Junior Dad” with Lou Reed’s vocals), Horse Lords, Fred Frith and Ikue Mori, Hatis Noit (weird Japanese vocalist), KMRU (Kenyan ambient artist), Henry Threadgill and Vijay Iyer, Evan Lurie, Faun Fables, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Bonnie Prince Billy, Secret Chiefs 3, Bitchin Bajas, Myra melford’s Fire and Water. i think i went to the wrong John Paul Jones performance, and i missed a lot of the electronic and folk acts.
