I thought that I remembered people here liking it, but this one makes me sympathize with some of your Friedkin bashing, and I like The Exorcist and The French Connection. It’s hollow and choppy and The Wages of Fear completely smokes it. I rewatched The Wages of Fear yesterday and alot of it had me on the edge of my seat. The Bridge sequence in Sorcerer is impressive but even that doesn’t generate the same tension that alot of Wages has. The music is cool, I wish there was more of it, and there are some good individual shots. But this one was a big disappointment.
I was actually hoping that it would manage an ending that was worse than the ending of The Wages of Fear to the same degree that the rest of the movie was worse. That would have made the entire thing worth it.
