Jefferson Airplane always felt like a dissapointing band.

I have a copy of Crown of Creation but I never listened to it much. Surrealistic Pillow is a solid album but I don’t think it’s all-time great, and nothing is as good as the two songs everyone has heard a million times.

I didn’t remember that Crown had a track called Cushingura on it, which I guess shows that I stopped listening to it 20 years ago before I learned what that was.

Glad you didn’t have to dump on Green River, although I don’t have much to say about it. Other than to point out that it clocks in at just under 30 minutes.

From Wikipedia:

[Bad Moon Rising] is one of five songs by the band that peaked at the No. 2 spot on the U.S. Billboard chart and did not get to No. 1. It was blocked by “Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet” by Henry Mancini.

Not generally highlighted by our collective cultural memory of the music of 1969. That movie sucks, btw. It’s appropriate that the thing everyone remembers about it is seeing someone’s ass.
