Sonic Youth’s attempts at getting “political” usually fit in with their usual snotty attempts at courting the MTV/grunge-kid audience, which started with Goo but continued on from there for awhile; did you know they put out a video for every single song on Goo?

That song’s not great, and SY probably weren’t as smart as they thought they were, but there’s far worse examples of the Snotty Yassholes being snotty–“My Friend Goo,” “Youth Against Fascism” maybe?....even with Trump running, you don’t hear anybody chanting “the president sucks, yeah he’s a war pig fuck!” in the streets do you?
