I said that I didn’t like the Oscar-winning movie, as opposed to the older, made-for-tv-version (which stars Avery Brooks, btw, in what I guess was his first notable role) because in the movie they made the slave owners into a bunch of crazy people. It’s less interesting, less effective, and less accurate.

And to be clear, when I said the historical details were probably further off in the tv version, I did not mean the depiction of the individual slave owners, which I think is agreed to be more accurate in the Gordon Parks/Avery Brooks version.
