Another E.L. Doctorow novel that got made as a big budget flop of a film in the 80s. I haven’t seen it. Never read Billy Bathgate but have very vague memories of seeing it when it came out. Ragtime was one of those famous bestsellers in the 70s that read like it had cinematic potential so they thought they might have another Godfather on their hands but it didn’t pan out. I see Milos Forman directed and Randy Newman did the soundtrack.

Combat Rock - yeah, weird album to become their US breakthrough. Like I said on my old site, it’s as consistent as your average side of Sandinista! - 3 A-sides + weird filler. Nothing to add that hasn’t been said before.
