Hatchet is about a kid who has to survive in the wilderness after a plane crash. It’s a pretty good non-stupid kids’ book. Of course, Paulsen probably wrote six jillion books besides that one…
“Paulsen heaps on violence and torture in a way that seems more appropriate to a Mickey Spillane novel” - God, talk about a sentence I never thought I’d read. And talk about a red flag. GARY PAULSEN COMPARED TO MICKEY SPILLANE. What’s next, Bruce Coville getting compared to Henry Miller?
Why, yes, I did watch Killer Of Sheep - It was really depressing. Which I guess means that it worked. I haven’t revisited it though.
