I never thought very highly of Showgirls. It’s not a very good “Paul Verhoeven” movie, it’s a Joe Eszterhas movie that happened to have a competent person directing. (I wonder what the hell Eszterhas is even doing today? He used to be the highest paid screenwriter in Hollywood history). I’m too old to be titillated by nudity in the movies and I wish poor Elizabeth Berkeley had been better directed (it could have been a better performance if it hadn’t been so damn go-for-broke.)
