I don’t mind pop music as long as it feels like the artists are trying to break some new ground (if only for themselves) instead of just making something that will appeal to the widest audience in order to be commercially successful. I guess I’m saying I like it when artists are only incidentally commercially successful so it doesn’t feel like I’m being sold something.

Another artist who feels like a modern Kate Bush is Spellling. I absolutely adore her album The Turning Wheel. Her voice has that theatrical quality and the melodies are gorgeous
