I’m surprised you think it’s actually a great song, there’s not alot to it. But the band does a great job on it. It’s the kind of thing I was thinking of when I said ” Back in the ’70s they knew how to give these kinds of songs personality” about Girl Keeps Coming Apart. I dislike the Preacher Voiceover.

No, their lyrics were never great, but they used to sound more like they were written by real people.

I hadn’t thought to compare “The Movie” to AMLOR-era Floyd. Gawd, is it THAT bad?

I don’t actually think The Movie is bad, it’s better than MLOR, and it sounds more hard rock, rather than the adult contemporary tinge of MLOR, but don’t you hear what I’m talking about?

Yeah, I keep meaning to read Cryptonomicon, but I wanted to read it along side A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge, another doorstop novel that it battled for the hearts and minds of SF fans in 1999, but they’re both really long so I’ll probably take a break before then, and then I decided to read (or in one case, re-read) Vinge’s three major novels the preceeded it first, so…maybe by this time next year?

I don’t see your response to Norville. Had you not written it yet?
