How weird is it that the people who matter in the Republican party are openly pro-Russia? I think it’s from a bunker mentality after they were found to have interfered in 2016 that “so what, they’re not that bad anyway.” So you have Trump meeting with Orbán at Mar-a-Lago pledging not to give any aid to Ukraine.

That’s a fucked political party, and I’m hardly a progressive or socialist. It’d be ripe to be taken over by an ambitious ideological faction. Just build up a little power enough to take root and you could have a wing of a major party forever. Institutionally the GOP is in pretty weak shape.
