Do they really look 30, though, or are they just in clothing and hairstyles that we’ve associated with people older than us since the cradle? If you look at their faces and skin they look young.
I’ve tried to look at old pictures and see the people as young. Up to the 1960s young men were expected to be literally young men and look it. I’ve tried to look at some of these late ’60s guys as young and I just can’t do it. David Crosby was in his late 20s when the CSN debut came out.
That actually touches on something: certain kinds of facial hair will do it. This is a big thing from the 1870s until World War I but even Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren (where did Sam go?) I can’t see as just 30, or any particular age:
The obligatory Rollie Fingers photo:
Tl;dr if you look at their faces, hands, feet, state and health of their hair, they look young. The clothing makes them look older than they are because these pictures were taken when I was an infant.
Ironically, the younger generation’s obsessive skin-care routines are blamed for their premature aging, as well as nicotine habits (vaping) and lack of care to sunscreen.
