We won the Afghan war

Think about it. The objective of the war in Afghanistan was to remove the Taliban and eliminate the possibility of that government collusing with or at least tolerating terrorist groups as they had with al-Qaeda leading up to 9/11.

Well we did just that – up to 2022 or whenever, Afghanistan was in remission of talibiasis and liberal ideas were allowed to spread. In this time, al-Qaeda dwindled in influence to the point that any future international terrorist threat will come from ISIS, who hate the government as much as they do the Americans. In other words, there will be no safe haven. You still have the Haqqanis and local terrorist riffraff but without American soldiers to kill they’ll go back to terrorizing the civilians.

So we basically knocked it out of the park. There have been no serious stateside terrorist attacks since 9/11. This is the first war we’ve won since Persian Gulf I. Mission accomplished!
