My favourite record she’s done so far I think. I could do without the interludes (an album over 80 minutes does not need to spend multiple minutes on song intros), but the songs are great. “16 Carrages” “Protector” and “II Most wanted” are my favs so far.
It’s not really a “true” country album though. There’s still plenty of hip-hop rnb and gospel influence on the album and much of the supposed country sounds more like americana than it does whatever country radio is playing these days. But that’s a good thing cus that’s better anyway. it makes the whole thing a diverse genre-mashup.
I’d like it very much if the trend with pop stars was to lean back into making music with more acoustic and organic instruments, and if Beyonce of all people wants to lead the way on that I ain’t complaining. The album sounds great on headphones.
Would have been better cut down to 60 minutes. but I’m not too bothered by the length cus it is super varied album.
