and there arent even any great live versions to redeem it in this case. a later era of the band could have probably improved it (I’d have liked to have seen them give it a go during the Pulse era since they had such a big band of backup singers and additional musicians), but they (perhaps wisely) chose to focus their efforts on other, better, things instead. AHM was a stepping stone to those better things so it’s interesting from that perspective. But I barely ever listen to it. It takes up half the album so makes most of the record a drag. Side 2 is decent though, usually i just listen to those songs only. Swap the title track with all the best songs from More and you’d have a much better album.
