that it has better weapons. In DOOM the shotgun is clearly the main weapon, you use it most of the time, and anything else is situational (although DOOM II hast two types of shotgun). It’s hard for me to imagine playing any other way. All the weapons in DOOM are cool and fun to use, but there’s a main weapon and a bunch of situational weapons. In Heretic it’s alot more balanced.

DOOM has better music. I prefer to look and atmosphere of DOOM to Heretic. I’d have to play Heretic through again to say which one has better levels. Heretic probably doesn’t have anything as annoying as that DOOM II level where they threw in the towel and made a giant arrow on the floor pointing to where you were supposed to go. I think it’s Downtown?
