Wow

I just listened to “Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight” for the first time. Of course I’ve heard it, but never found it that memorable save for that little riff. I didn’t even know it was ABBA until recently; it was a 45RPM that’s only a bonus track on the Voulez-Vous remaster, and my copy is the original. It’s not a very good song IMO. The album tracks are generally better, and it being “Gimme Gimme Gimme A Man After Midnight”, I don’t think I’m going to be changing my opinion anytime soon.

What are some embarrassingly ubiquitous tracks you didn’t know who did for the longest time?

In a related note, I heard “Sitting By the Dock of the Bay” (acrobatic capitalization there) for the second time in my life the other day. The first was a few months ago. I still haven’t heard “Positively Fourth Street” and I think I’ll abstain just because I may as well. I’ve never been on Twitter or TikTok, and I’ve never heard “Positively Fourth Street”. What are some of your musical near-nevers or nevers?

Also, heroin most prominently. Crack hasn’t really been a thing here in my lifetime. “Here” being the suburbs, not DC, which in the ’80s and ’90s was the crack capital of at least the East Coast.
