Normally there is nothing I hate more than contrived acronyms, especially in legislation, but this is USA PATRIOT Act level genius.

BTW I usually only watch David Muir and the Sunday shows and from time to time CNN so binging MSNBC prime is rare* for me. I think Rachel Maddow is back on the network every night for the first hundred days (Christ, we still have that far to go?) so that should be a ratings bonanza tonight.

• I must say as a meat employee that “rare” is a doneness of steak, and USDA Prime is the medium grade of quality beef, between Select and Choice (which, literally, are the same thing). Here, “Prime” as the middle grade is a misnomer, as the word derives from the Latin primus, meaning “first”, also seen in paint primer or priming the pump or an engine. USDA grades are wack. Boring “Grade A” eggs, too. Give me the FDA’s extra fancy ketchup.
