Not many, as far as I know

My sister is a high school teacher, and reports that they only focus on a couple books per semester. She’s teaching a grade where they do international literature, so they’ll have a long section on Things Fall Apart but there’s not much expectation that kids will be regularly finding books to read on their own or doing homework. I think they also have a group project where kids can choose between a few options and do group discussions, IIRC the options included a Murakami novel and Convenience Store Woman.
