That’s probably my favorite of the former Soviet Stans (although my favorite of all of them is Afghanistan). Lots of history with the Silk Road going through there and Samarkand and Tamerlane and shit. I just went up and changed “second favorite” to “favorite” because the great Turkmenbashi is no longer with us.
Props to ABBA for using the word “enchained” in a song (“Chiquitita”).
