I forgot to mention that I never heard Washing Machine, either. I am familiar with “The Diamond Sea,” at least, but not the rest of it and I know both it and A1000L (“AKL”?) are reasonably well regarded.

Rather Ripped - I remember liking “Incinerate,” “Or,” and a couple of other songs, and I have not forgotten the album completely, which I thought was one of their better ones, but it’s probably due for a reeeeeeeelisten.

Goo is a pretty good album, but it’s solely because of the epics, all of which rule. “Titanium Expose” in particular is a choice for their strongest song, IMO–play it just when the sun’s going down for a stunning effect. In the summer, too. But the short songs stink and “My Friend Goo” belongs on a list of the twenty five or so worst songs I’ve ever heard.
Dirty has been revisited and aside from “Theresa’s Sound World,” “Sugar Kane” and maybe two or three others, I basically dislike it. One of the bigger music magazines had it listed as their 1992 album of the year and I know it was their attempt to sort of mingle with the grunge crowd they’d inspired, but I couldn’t get into it, the Prindle review of it BTW was pretty funny.
You don’t want to know what I think of Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No Star.

Oh and I’m stunned that it was Thurston’s cheatin’ heart that caused the band to break up. One of the dumbest tragedies in rock history, right next to why Boston’s lead singer committed suicide.
