Sonic Nurse is a very pleasant album! There are like 3 songs on there that I can barely tell apart but they all sound good. A Thousand Leaves doesn’t totally work for me but has some fantastic highlights, I think you’d really like “Hoarfrost,” one of the prettiest, most evocative things they ever made imo. I just listened to “Blink,” it’s good!
They’ve been releasing/re-releasing a bunch of live stuff, Walls Have Ears is a nice document of the Bad Moon Rising/EVOL era, what I heard of Live In Moscow 1989 sounded good, and they put out their last show, after Thurston and Kim had split up. Wild that they’d perform “Kotton Krown” after all that.
I missed my chance to see Thurston collaborate with John Paul Jones last weekend, apparently it was wildly noisy and a lot of people who had been lined up for an hour walked out after 5 or 10 minutes.
