Played about two hours of Nethergate: Resurrection last night. I actually think it uses the originalAvernum’s engine, seeing as you can only see two or three spaces around you in a dungeon unless you have a light source, secret doors aren’t marked, you have limited ammo, and you can have more thsn four characters, thiugh you start with four.

The QoL changes in Escape from the Pit are welcome in retrospect. OTOH I don’t mind having to hold down the mouse button to move: it helps you navigate dungeons in the dark. It seems like a solid game. It’s like five bucks on GOG.

Ed; I just looked it up and Avernum 1-3 use the original Nethergate engine, not thr other way around.

Ed2: OK, the original Avernum uses the Nethergate engine and Resurrection in return uses the Blades of Avernum engine.
