I agree that Cave could be pretty pretentious at times and a lot of his music probably will be too serious and too dark for a lot of people’s tastes…but no way in hell was he ever juvenile, even in the Birthday Party years (I think–I’ve never really listened to Door, Door.) I don’t recall him ever getting very political, either, and I read the NME special Nick Cave issue which compiled his entire career into print interviews and reviews.

Fripp at Columbia....uh, I can’t seem to find any links to this anymore. He was doing a Q&A with some university audience and they asked him some questions that pissed him off and he said some snotty things as a retort. It may not have been Columbia University, either. I’m Googling and can’t seem to find it, but it definitely happened.
