Of course, the parallel between the two bands is that listening to any new albums they put out is typically a matter of hearing the one awesome song from the album in question, thinking the band is “back,” and then listening to the rest of the album and having it come nowhere near close to that sort of greatness. Weezer are the worse of the two about this.

It’s depressing thinking about some of the moments in that Pixies documentary that clarify this problem of Francis’s. And I am saying this as someone who didn’t even get into Francis’ solo career–I didn’t even care for the first two albums!
