but based at least on season 1, I don’t think the show falls too much into stereotypes. The drug dealers have surprisingly complex motives- showing they’re not all bad- and the cops are crooked too. The goal is to kind of zoom out and look at the dysfunction of the whole system that the individual characters participate in.

I’m surprised to hear that you thought season 1 was the worst. That makes me want to pick it up again! But it’s not easy to find the time for hour-long TV shows…hell, I’m still only halfway done with Deadwood
