I remember being young and having that feeling of “wow the Democrats are screwed forever”, but of course that was just a prelude to a relatively progressive period in American history. But Benjamin is also correct that this simply won’t be a repeat of the first Trump administration; even within my own professional field, the guys rumored for top positions are Heritage Foundation guys rather than the moderates he started off with. And the massive rightward shifts in NY and NJ are the biggest reasons to doom, even more than losing the election.
