As for hearing her songs in the wild, the only song released from 2000 onward that I’ve heard in public MORE than “You Belong With Me” is U2’s “Beautiful Day.” Possibly Coldplay’s “Clocks,” too. I confess that at first I kind of liked the Swift song, the way she doesn’t change the bassline’s chord for the first two lines of the chorus is a nice hook, and the break is catchy too.
Then I heard it sixty seven million more times.
