“Blank Space” is a legitimately good song and “You Belong With Me” is sweet (in sound; thr sentiment is a fucking stalker nightmare). Other than that, “Shake UmUt Off” is deeply flawed (shouted verses, weak chorus, cheerleader break) abd it was fucking everywhere for a while. It’s just not a good song. I don’t know why it in particular was so popular and it was the lead single, but that’s why I don’t decide these things. (Actually it was the lead single because it’s very lead-single-y and fit her new image. It just needed to have been a better song.) “Bad Blood” is meh, and those are all the Taylor Swift songs I know I know. I have no idea how I was that plugged into pop culture in 2014 because I wasn’t doing anything in particular, unless those songs truly were that ubiquitous.
