I wanted to say the same thing about Michael Gira’s voice (and really, the two sound very close–far closer than Stephen Malkmus and Rivers Cuomo used to!) but now that I think about it, Gira has done lots and lots of different things with his voice, it just sort of seems likes he hasn’t.

I admit High Violet was a grower, but that’s because I initially wrote off a lot of the tracks in the second half.

I’d have never heard of this band or that album at all except that Norville mentioned it in a What’s Spinning post and I was intrigued by the title, as I often am with titles that have colors in them.

I thought that the font on the album cover (if you got the one with a big purple band across the center) was meant to make it look like Massive Attack’s Mezzanine, but that’s probably just me.

I’m not very good at names in this band. There are two sets of twins in the lineup. It’s weird to think of them as a “recent” band, just goes to show how little has happened with “rock” since 2010.
