but when I think “classic rock” I think station ID spots like CLASSIC RAWK* WARW 94.7 THE ARROW, GAITHERSBURG and 50-year-old dads rocking out to Led Zeppelin and Boston (the years change but the age of the dads don’t) and that picture Ken posted to Facebook of his dad playing bass guitar to Rush with the biggest dopey shit-eating grin on his face. “Classic rock” is cheese among the public and has been for some time now. It’s an ’80s radio term for old-music-that’s-not-oldies and yes, Nirvana and Pearl Jam qualify. But the modern rock station also plays them.
