What do you think of Another Side? Except for the debut that’s the acoustic album that’s always slept on. I can kind of see why, as it doesn’t have the standout tracks of the others, but it seemed to be his first mature album that left him with nowhere else to go but change his sound completely. Maybe part of why I like it so much is that it was the first album I bought new on vinyl. This would have been around 2003, when buying new LPs was a really weird/unusual thing to do. But I never got into Tool’s Opiate, which I bought on vinyl around the same time. I don’t think I even made it all the way through the Mooney Suzuki’s Alive and Amplified!
I started Avernum 2 over because it had been a few weeks since I had played it. I actually saved it right outside the first fort and intended to come back to it but never did. I’ve done all that can be done in part 1 in my new game and have gone down to the underground river and am kind of poking around down there. Where I saved was outside a tower in the northern part of the cavern, with a diverging fork off to the south. Put four hours into it so far.
It seems much more linear and story-driven (rather than being totally world-building like the first game) and it doesn’t seem like the kind of game you’d run out of steam with where you’re sick of doing quests. I like it so far.
I planned on playing today but I had to go to the laundromat carrying a heavy bag of clothes both ways of a half-mile walk in the 94-degree heat. I’m home, cooled off, and hydrated, but I’m tired though drinking coffee. Off again tomorrow so maybe then.

What I mean by a lesser/lower-key work is that it's the Bob Dylan analogue to Beethoven's fourth symphony (yes text) -
