I saw the Twitter canceling attempt go down (he liked an edgy joke tweet “Every girl is bi. You just have to figure out if it’s polar or sexual.” and one of his coworkers got mad). I can definitely see some validity in her complaint- that’s not something that’s at all appropriate for work and he did also use his Twitter account for work- but I think journalists have a difficult time separating work and personal personas on those platforms. That joke was also clearly ironic and seems pretty mild compared to the jokes you could hear at the set of nearly any mainstream comic excepting maybe like, John Mulaney.
He’s also occasionally been a guest on a podcast I like (Chapo Trap House). He seems like a chill and genuine guy and I hope for his continued success!
I have not read his book. I like prog but I don’t love prog. But maybe we could do the thing that Scientologists do with L. Ron Hubbard and buy hundreds of copies so that it can become a New York Times bestseller

I think I recall Weigel sort of renouncing libertarianism -
