Maybe if it was chopped up into a mini series people would watch it. Obviously it has zero commercial potential as a 9 hour theatrical release.

Dirty Mind, Purple Rain, the first side of 1999, about half each of Sign O’the Times and Controversy - those are the essential albums you need. There are good songs here and there on some of his other albums but none are consistent enough to recommend without reservations.
