I’m not an expert on Irish history (hadn’t heard of Parnell before reading Ulysses in 2004) but I thought the civil war metaphor was going to be muted when one can easily forget if they don’t know any better that the movie even takes place in 1923 to begin with. Barring the lack of cell phones it feels like it could be taking place in the present day. Did the Irish say “feck” all the time back then? Would an old man like Gleeson have worn his hair in a slicked back mullet in 1923?
Am I missing anything by skipping Seven Psychopaths?
