I haven’t heard most of these, but let’s give this a go:
Worst followup to a big smash hit album ever?
Jethro Tull were riding a high in 1988-89, with the big comeback and Grammy and all, and then Rock Island happened. Most people hate Second Coming more than For Those About to Rock; the follow-up to Ziggy Stardust was Aladdin Sane (a close AC/DC analogue), and Smiley Smile exists.
“The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze” is great! The only other version I have is a hammed-up one with different lyrics on a gay ’90s nostalgia LP from the 1950s (I guess for old people and the kind of people who consider themselves ’90s kids despite being born in 1993. Hey, when I was twelve I thought the ’80s were cool, but the decade ended when I was 4y2m and my earliest clear memory was Christmas ‘88.)
