Index > What are some television shows you loved when you were young but probably wouldn't hold up today? > You really loved all that stuff when you were a kid?

Remember I said when I was “younger.”
I was in college when I watched these shows, and most of them were already old then:
Walker, Texas Ranger. Yes, I watched it. I liked Chuck Norris ironically (long before “meme” was even a word) and I was really into Tae Kwan Do at the time.
Monty Python’s Flying Circus
Star Trek TNG
Funny you mentioned the “very special episode” phenomenon. I was reading about this not that long ago. And I remembered many.
I only recently saw the “Matthew Perry dies” episode of Growing Pains on You Tube, and my search had nothing to do with the actor. I do remember the cocaine episode, and Kirk Cameron’s big speech at the end.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Oh God, too many to go into any detail. Will Smith’s dead beat dad. Will gets shot near an ATM machine and Carlton buys a gun. Carlton almost ODs and dies from Will’s speed. Uncle Phil has a heart attack. Will and Carlton get arrested by racist cops (this episode was funny because of the cell mate who sang opera). I remember all of those.
Different Strokes. Remember the two part episode where Arnold and his friend were molested by the man from the bicycle shop. And the hitchhiking one where the man tried to rape Kimberly.
Punky Brewster. Remember the one when they were playing hide and seek and Punky’s friend Cheri hid inside and old refrigerator and almost died. And the “Just Say No” episode. And the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster episode (I’m kind of old.)
The Brady Bunch. Remember the “smoking” episode. God was that dumb.
I haven’t regularly watched TV since 2002. This makes sense for me because that’s when Season 14 of the Simpsons was airing, and that was the bail out point for me with the series.
