and other stuff that inspired shoegaze, like Cocteau Twins’ Head Over Heels and your beloved Jesus & Mary Chain’s Psychocandy…and stuff that was clearly inspired by shoegaze, like Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream, Stereolab’s Peng!, or even individual songs like U2’s “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses,” but I don’t really think that my love (and it’s a pretty big love alright) for those things is enough to make me a full blown conossieur, checking out all the little tiny bands from that era. Hell, there’s big-name stuff from the genre that I’ve barely sampled, like Catherine Wheel or the Boo Radleys.
That being said I’m grateful that you’ve directed me to this band, so I will try to find time to listen to them. The other two genres that I’ll always fall for if someone directs me to an interesting obscure find in the genre are 80s underground/college-rock and classic goth-rock.
