that that optimism would have simply stemmed from his hatred of new music media (he was one of the first people to rant about CDs, as you well know) but I guess there was more to it than that. Would make a nice compare and contrast with that thing Derrick posted where Todd Rundgren talked about music as going from being a product back to being a service.
