i liked Lake Mungo, not particularly for the scares, i just thought it was immensely sad - the way in which the mystery is “solved” by the family, and it shouldn’t really be enough for them to move on, but they’ll basically grasp onto anything that allows them to feel a little better, even if they’re leaving something terribly important behind.
