He was what we would now call woke, extremely so, and was one of those people who think anything foreign, especially anything Asian, was automatically better than anything American. He went to Vietnam on a student program and came back spouting the official communist Vietnamese government line that the Americans were fascists trying to prevent the Vietnamese people from uniting. He went to China a few years ago and that’s the last anyone heard of him.
He was born in the mid ’90s and just barely missed out on being Gen Z, and he would have fit right in. He was vocally bisexual and he thought he was very special because of it. (So am I, but this is the first you’re hearing of it. Take notes, Sterling * – sorry, Sterling * *. He was part Mexican abd complained about racism even though to all appearances he was a regular white guy.)
He was very friendly to me and I didn’t have the heart to tell him I didn’t really like him. He corrected George Starostin on linguistics and in general was an arrogant little shit, but I think he’s in his 30s now, not right out of college, and has probably mellowed and thought for himself a bit more. One can hope.
