Lets see, I don’t play video games or think about them as much anymore but I do have a bunch of favorites and quite a bit of history with different games and consoles.
Super Mario, Mario 2, Mario 3 - Definitely important games to me and the first games i remember loving. Mario 3 was the first big epic kind of game i remember really getting enamored with as a young kid. I remember having an NES in the 80s given to me by a family member, then maybe it broke or something because years later, I think 1990 or 1991 when it was getting discounted my dad bought me the NES with Mario 3 bundle again and that was a nice memory.
Sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2 - also loved these games and made me want a Sega Genesis. I was more into Sega and never owned another Nintendo system until Gamecube or Wii. I know its sad I never owned an SNES or N64. I havent had mych experience with games on there until later in life embarrassingly for me to admit.
I got duped into the Sega CD and 32x gimmick too. I was a terrible gamer wasnt i? i wanted to try CD gaming but didnt have a PC viable for good gaming. I was fascinated by the technology of FMVs and all that but that was when it was really lame and a little too early technologically for a good console to tackle that at the time.
Doom was and still is amazing btw. It is one of my favorite games of all time.
Got a Playstation 1 in like 1997 and that was cool as well for the time. Twisted Metal 1 and 2 were games i loved as a teen as well. Used to co op with friends all the time on it.
After that it became totally casual. I bought Gamecube and Wii later in life but played it for novelty purposes.
Other games I loved or at least played quite a bit as a kid in 8 bit or 16 bit eras:
Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 (esp 2. 1 was gimmicky and lame in retrospect)
Doom (i had the 32x version back then sadly PC is obviously the best way to go)
NHL 94 (i did like some sports games, this one i would play while listening to music sometimes)
Earthworm Jim
TMNT, that original version on NES
Excitebike
Mario 64 is also one of my favorites I got into when it came out.. My cousin did have an N64 i played with him. one game I beat later in life when my nephew got into Mario games. Also got into Mega Man games a lot on emulators like 10 years ago.
honestly i cant even remember half the games i played off the top of my head. AVGN covered a lot of them though. Probably a whole bunch Im forgetting that I played as a kid. Yes I was never a super serious gamer into JRPGs or adventure epics or anything but I loved to beat games and I did love to let off some steam and play something fun and play with friends.

Has any NES game generated more mixed emotions than the original TMNT? -

I've only made it past the water level three times and I consider it a fun game (nt) -
