I wasn’t really expecting him to produce any more major stuff, but it’s really bumming me out to no longer have that slight possibility out there. His sensibility felt like a little beacon in the darkness of where everything is trending in terms of art and culture.
TP Season 3 does feel like an appropriate finale, there’s so much time spent with people not long for the world and giving them quiet little moments. I felt like just the scenes with Harry Dean Stanton were enough to justify the show.
Did I ever recommend this essay? I thought it was pretty great - not that I think it solves everything like that annoying youtube guy, just that it’s really well-written and a very plausible way of approaching the Return: http://quarterly.politicsslashletters.org/dreamer-twin-peaks-return/

I'm not sure how possible it ever would have been to get Lynch's "preferred cut" for Dune. -
