Oh you’re right, I probably saw the film and assumed she was a lot younger in real life as well. She actually died at a pretty normal age. I guess somehow managing to outlive everyone against all odds is Brian’s gift and curse.

Any you’re right there isn’t a whole lot left to ask from him at this point. He even managed to put out a good Beach Boys swan song with that little suite of ballads on their last album.

The last holy grails I guess would be proper releases for the Paley stuff (which isn’t that amazing but has some great tracks like Marketplace, which would’ve fit perfectly on Smile or Friends), and Adult Child. I guess Adult Child should come out in a few years as part of those big annual box sets they’ve been doing.

I love his self titled, and Lucky Old Sun is alright, but I never really bothered giving his other solo records a proper listen. The vibe I get from them is they’re actually more compromised than his debut he made in the Landy era, which feels like pretty unfiltered Brian silliness to me.
